For many years I lived in Maine. Now that spring is here I have Maine on my mind a lot. I am ready for another trip us there to see my old friends. Last time was just too short.
When I was living there, I loved passing this lake. Rarely could I just drive by. It was beautiful. Some days it was calm and like glass and other days it was almost like the ocean wth the waves.
I couldn't wait to see what GOD was going to lead me to do with this one. I had such a good time painting it and thinking of my friends in Maine and how good it would be to see them again this year.
With the background finished and looking quite like what I remembered seeing so many times, I couldn't help but take some artistic license and make this place my own sanctuary. So there are lots of things in the forground that done exist at Lake Auburn from the view I was painting but, I was so happy when I saw the finished result. Knowing when to stop is a difficult call. Also, choosing colors and blending is tough. I'm learning as I go. I don't want to lose the bold colors I've begun with but I hope I can change without softening them too much.
This one took me about 90 minutes to paint.
God bless you!
