Painted: Friday ~ May 19, 2017
I went to bed last night thinking about this lighthouse. I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Finally, about 2:30 in the morning I went down to the studio and began to paint. It looks like a very simple painting but doing the fog rolling in, the lighthouse itself and all those rocks took me longer that I anticipated. On cheap 8 x 10 canvas they claim is properly triple primed it's not so easy to get the paint to flow with the small detail and coupled with my shaking, all in all I was pleased when I finished.
This is not exactly the way it looks as I chose to do a different kind of rocks, and add the pool at the bottom of the picture.
Often on a hot summer day in Portland, Maine you could experience fog rolling in like this. I enjoyed painting this and hope you like it. Painted for all my wonderful friends in Maine. "The way life should be!"
God bless you!
