"The Barn Revisited"
Painted: Saturday ~ April 29, 2017
Four weeks ago this whole painting adventure began at Paint Night at Shiloh. The barn and sunflowers I painted that night have never left my mind. I've had some practice since then so I thought - why not revisit that barn and flowers idea again.
Saturday, I kept driving past the beautiful Amish farms and thinking that is the kind of scene I will paint. One in particular stuck in my mind but I saw it with a small very round pond so, that's what I settled on.
Since I don't draw well, I kept thinking of how I was going to shape the barn and small buildings attached to it and then a silo. This was quite ambitious. It was going well until I made a what was a huge error that destroyed the painting for me. That's where some white paint comes in. I wish I would have taken pictures of what I changed to make the painting more like what I saw in my head.
Then came those flowers! Yikes. But, with a little bit of patience I came out with something better than my very first painting at paint night. I suspect we will see another barn with flowers in a few weeks. Enjoy!
God bless you!
