HE is Risen!
Painted: Monday ~ April 17, 2017
After attending the beautiful Sonrise service that Shiloh Community Fellowship had at Black Rock Retreat, I could not get the beautiful of it all out of my head. I took dozens of pictures of the ground fog on the field that lead through lush green grass toward a small hill with three crosses on it. I have problems with my feet so I am not able to walk on that grass so, as people walked toward the cross they would disappear into the fog. Breath taking. As the sun came up the sky lit up the few clouds and the trees against the sky were just amazing with their detailed branches and few leaves.
Now, it was time for me to attempt to paint this from memory. The picture was in my head so I sat down and prayed as with the previous painting and began. This one was a real struggle. I didn't understand how to paint trees, fog and my crosses where these huge tick things that we ever so plain. I wasn't happy with the results.
I posted it on Facebook as I had with the others but, I called it an epic fail. That met up with so many kinds friends who kept saying: "that looks like fog to me." Then a strange thing happened. A friend I have not seen in years asked what I planned to do with the painting. Before all the nice comments I had considered burning it. Now I saw the value of what that painting represented and the innocense of this beginning painter. My friend wanted to buy it. How humbling - yet, how awesome. Someone wanted it!
It took a few days for me to arrive at a price since I knew less about pricing a painting that I did about painting one. She's happy, I am happy, my Facebook friends are happy and I believe GOD is honored and blessed by what I learned thanks to a bunch of caring friends on social media. (One man's trash is another man's treasure.)
God bless you!
